Our Year 5 pupils are currently enjoying their topic 'off with her head', which focuses on life during Tudor times. This week, the children welcomed Nick the chef into school to take part in a Tudor banquet!
Pupils were split into three social classes - kings and queens, middle class and lower class. Each child was given a task relating to their chosen social class such as cutting potatoes, grating carrots, peeling onions and for the lucky kings and queens - watching the other children do the work for them!
After the children prepared the food, Nick spoke about where different food comes from and how some kinds of food become popular through trading with other countries.
The children had a great time with Nick and even had the chance to taste some of the Tudor foods like pottage, stew and honey glazed pork!
