Anti-bullying Week

In the spirit of Anti-bullying Week, children across school have been taking part in different activities to raise awarness on the subject. Read more about what each class has been up to below...

This week Nursery and Reception enjoyed sharing their odd socks and talking about how we are all different, but we are all special. The group came together and talked about how we can share kindness and the importance of following our school rules to keep us happy. Harry suggested “if someone is sad you can go and play with them.” Jacob said “when you have a toy, and someone wants it you can share it with them.” Everly added “if someone is alone you can look after them.”

The children all showed a fabulous understanding of who our trusted adults are and who we can talk to if we need someone. We celebrated together by singing if you are happy and you know it - which the children loved!

Year 1 celebrated through a number of activities focusing on 'making a noise' and being a good friend. We wore Odd Socks on Tuesday and talked about how everyone is different and unique, before watching a video from Horton Hears a Who and learned about how important it is for everyone to speak up when they see something unkind happening as this makes a big difference. Finally, the class thought about what it takes to be a good friend and created 'recipes' for kindness.

In their computing lessons, Year 2 have been learning all about online bullying and what to do if we think we are being bullied by someone on the internet. The group looked at what this actually involves and compared it to someone being unkind in-person.

Year 3 learned to 'make a noise about bullying'. They worked hard to create a poem in partners about how we can all do our part to stand up to bullying.

Year 4 did some drama! The group acted out different situations and decided if it was 'banter or bullying'. The class had a discussion about bullying and thought about who they could speak to if they were worried about anything at school.

Year 5 followed the theme of 'Make a Noise'. The class were given a range of scenarios and were asked to find out who the trusted adult was in that situation and what could be done. The group then completed a mind map about who their own trusted adults are.

Year 6 came to school in odd socks on Tuesday and have discussed anti bullying in our PSHE lesson. The group discussed the term ‘banter’ and shared that sometimes this can be taken too far, and cause upset towards others. As a class, the group came together to create their own anti bullying poem based around how bullying would feel and what they can do if they were being bullied.

Well done everyone!
