Year 2

Hello Year 2!

I hope that you are all are enjoying learning at home and spending time with your family. I am very proud of you all and the hard work and determination you are showing towards your learning. You are all Sacriston Stars! I am enjoying seeing all of your work on Purple Mash, your progress on Times Table Rockstars and am looking forward to hearing all about what else you have been learning when we come back to school.

Each week I am going to continue to put tasks, links and ideas for you to complete at home as well as continuing with your Joe Wicks PE lessons, Read Write Inc lessons, Numbots and Times Table Rockstars as well as the other things you can find on our Year 2 virtual school page. For Times Table Rockstars I named our band Miss Watson’s Wonders as you all amaze me and are wonderful.

Lottie, my dog, is busy helping me as I work from home and loves looking at all of your work, especially the colourful mini-beast you created on purple mash. She even barked at a couple as they were so realistic!

This is a very strange time and I know it can be a bit scary as change can be very difficult. I want you all to know that I miss each and every one of you and am looking forward to seeing all of your smiling faces when we return to school. In the meantime, please ask your adults to put any pictures of you and the fantastic pieces of work that you have completed on our school’s Facebook page so I can still see how you are getting on at home.

Please make sure that you are being as kind and helpful at home as you always are at school! I’m sure your adults will be working hard at home to help you with your learning, make sure you say thank you to them and help them as much as you can around the house!

Remember to please stay safe, continue to wash your hands, stay inside as much as you can and work as hard as you can (and take the time to rest and relax!) and I will see you all as soon as I am able to.

Remember how proud I am of you all.

Read Write Inc  
From Monday 23 March, Read Write Inc. are scheduling free phonics lessons on Facebook and Youtube for children to watch at home. The lessons will be streamed live at the following times:

• Set 1 speed sounds - 9.30am and 12.30pm
• Set 2 speed sounds - 10.00am and 1.00pm
• Set 3 speed sounds - 10.30am and 1.30pm

Read Write Inc. are also releasing a film of a teacher reading a poem for Reception and Year 1 children to join in with at 2.00pm every day. The films will also be uploaded to YouTube, making them available to watch again and again!
